A quick fix guide

Dec 26, 2011 7:55 PM by Discussion: Docks

This is not a question or an extensive guide, just a quick resource for a workaround an issue.

Apparently when you want Sticky Notes to run from Object Dock, you can't point the shortcut to the usual address of the application which is this:

C:\Windows\System32\StikyNot.exe

I looked around the web for a solution, but couldn't find one, so I started experimenting. The solution is very simple. Just point your shortcut to this address:

C:\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-stickynotes-app_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_493ba8a4d2fc9697\StikyNot.exe

Problem solved! I hope this helps some people.  [e digicons]:)[/e]

...some proverbs i found around the net...

Eye for an eye

makes the whole world blind

and thy one eyed king

shall reign among the blind.

Live free and die,

consume and survive.

A labmouse feels safer

in the cage.

Engage to free thinking,

but keep it to yourself.

Express in your own style,

but expect not to be accepted.

Our difference is what unites us,

our likeness is what divides.

Treat your guests as

you would treat your family.

A sarcastic person has a superiority complex

that can be cured only by the honesty of humility.

Justice without force is powerless,

force without justice is tyrannical.

Noone is as deaf

as the man who will not listen.

We are used to call WC as a community...still does this really apply to the site?

A definition of community could possibly be the aggregate of persons with common characteristics such as geographic, professional, cultural, racial, religious, or socioeconomic similarities. Communities can be defined by location, race, ethnicity, age, occupation, interest in particular problems or outcomes, or other common bonds. The main bonding element of communities is communication, hence the likeness of the words. And from what my experience has taught me is that in WC there is a serious lack of it.

People don't actually come here to socialize, they come here to download skins, themes and other skin related stuff. Very few comments, very few forum posts and very few post replies in comparison to other communities. If you do need stats here are some:

WC Stats:
30 037 Posts
384 915 Replies
Founded: 2001

DA Stats:
689 502 Posts
14 534 399 Replies
Founded: 2000

So i guess there are still lessons to be learned...

So here goes the inquiry:

What is the difference between:

a. Stardock DeskScapes or Dream: http://dream.wincustomize.com/ (Date of Creation: 2006)

b. Microcyb DreamRender: http://www.dreamrender.com/?m=about (Date of Creation: 2003)

From my point of view they both do the same work, producing animated wallpapers. Only thing is that DreamRender works in XP (and maybe won't be upgraded for Vista) and gives the user the ability to create any kind of dream (shapes, environments, textures, colors, particles, 2D, 3D, video, webcam).

Also both programs have the same .dream filetype extension. Does that create any conflict between them? I have DreamRender for a long time and just need to know for future reference.

Em...for some reason i don't know my e-mail has just received 15 e-mails from WC all informing me that a member of my watchlist has just released a new skin. I'm not familiar with this personal informing system, yet i've noticed that the e-mails are not intended for me as the name of recepient is not mine, but of other members here in WC. Hope this is helpful for those guys messing with the site's well being and maintenance.

On a more optimistic tone: Hello to ALL I'm in the midst of semester finals right now...maybe during vacations i'll drop by the site to see what goes around.

Note: I have an unfinished skin called Class. I begun making it last year and never got to finish it. It's supposed to be a unique design, pretty hard to be completed, yet quite original. I provide a screeshot of the parts completed up to now below. Is anyone interested to finish it off for the competition? If you decide to finish it off please contact me at: nethphp@hotmail.com in order to provide you with all the necessary files (.psd, .png and .wba files).

Em...just a quick clarification cause i think i'm doing something wrong. I've submitted 12 walls and 11 of them got rejected, although i'm following all instructions given. Here is what i do:

a. I put in each .zip file 1600x1200, 1280x1024 and 1024x768 and also submit a preview at 1024x768.
b. I don't put additional resolutions in order to keep filesize down.
c. None of them was a terrain render. Bryce abstract renders post edited in Photoshop are too included in the "not accepted" list? Don't think so cause the one accepted for the GUIChamps is under that category.
d. Photographs are not allowed? Not even photomanips?
e. We are allowed to only one submission per category or is as many as we want?

So? Do i do something wrong? Is it a submission error? Or is just theme/inadequate quality/performance moderation?

PS: I do get rejection e-mails with the standard reply that 'your submission has not met the guidelines'.

...not a rant...

There comes a time when a person has to let go of things obsolete or things that just doesn't have time to do anymore. In that light my dear friends i'm leaving WC, the site that has been a nest for me in the past 6/7 years. I carry with me both good and bad memories, yet the feeling of joy, respect and family warmth are the strongest ones. I don't plan to empty my gallery, anyone who wants to can take anything he/she likes.

Life is changed now, i have much more work to do for the University, the number of asignements is growing and i find myself becoming more devoted to what i want to achieve in life, to become an archaeologist, a scientist and above all a good human being. Added to this is a growing liking towards photography, a hobby i picked up last year, thus i am still active online, but this time i am at DA. I have two accounts over at DA, at which you can visit/contact me anytime you like.

Art Account: http://cyberworld-arts.deviantart.com/ : My good art, being very picky on what gets in here. Also the site for journal/polls/discussions.

Stock Account: http://cyberworld-stock.deviantart.com/ : My stock, resources, obsolete, lesser quality, more quantity site. All are published under GNU Public license.

In conclusion i wish you all good luck in life, may you prosper and be healthy always.

Never forget: Carpe Diem

Cyberworld over and out.
